The Los Angeles Times uses social media in order to get the word out on their major posts and entries. The Times uses different forms of social media, here their posts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter will be analyzed.
All of the posts on Facebook and Twitter were the same. In each of these posts they provided links for articles, in the caption of the links there was a brief discription on what the article included or talked about. Along with these links and descriptions was a picture, which was mainly used to attract readers attention, because it provided a break for the eyes from looking at a bunch of text. This was a smart way to attract readers and get hits on their website, because there are millions of Facebook and Twitter users that have quick and easy access to these articles. So by having these pages, they are making it easier for the readers to obtain the material to read.
The Times also utilized Instagram in order to attract readers. This method is not as useful as far as getting hits on their website, but they used the pictures that were used on articles, and made new captions that were shortened versions of the articles. Because there is no option to put hyperlinks on instagram captions, they are unable to attract people to the actual articles. But of the caption is intriguing enough to an interested reader, they may go and seek out the extended article.
All together, the three forms of social media attract more views and hits, and a wider variety of audience to each of the posts and entries, and can create unity amoung Los Angeles and the nation.
